DALLAS HOPE CHARITIES (DHC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the Dallas community, with a primary focus on solving youth homeless in underserved communities such as LGBTQIA+ young adults. DHC's core mission is to provide food, shelter, and services that instill dignity, stability, and Hope For All.

Hope to Finally Home

Hope Street - Outreach Solutions

• Food (meals, meal cards) and transportation assistance (bus passes, Uber rides)
• Emergency motel stays to youth experiencing crisis situations through our partnership with ReloShare
• Youth Drop-In Center (Wilson Historic District) - Coming Soon! Through a generous partnership with the Meadows Foundation
• Innovate Hope STEAM, Cybersecurity & Podcast Learning Lab - Most minority and non-male gender youth do not have exposure to the technology and skills necessary to secure the high-paying, in-demand jobs of the future. We plan to open this lab in our Drop-In Center as funding becomes available.

Hope Center - Safe, Transitional Housing

• Up to 12 months of safe, affirming housing
• Case Management
• Critical Life Skills Training
• Holistic wraparound services (including free weekly mental health therapy)

Finally Home - The Final Step to Full Independence

• Rent-Assisted apartment living
• Graduated support - DHC pays 100% for the first 3 months, then the youth pays 25% more each quarter as they accustom to full time employment and independent living.
• Includes case management and wraparound services similar to the Hope Center

Beyond providing direct shelter and support, Dallas Hope Charities works to create a safer and more inclusive community through education and outreach. In 2021, we established the Collective Hope Coalition (CHC). Originally launched as Dallas’ only LGBTQ suicide prevention coalition, the CHC has expanded to become collaborative resource hub that unites community supporters and affirming service providers to address gaps in food, housing, medical care, and mental health for the LGBTQIA+ community. The CHC is powered by over 30 individual members representing over 25 organizations.

Dallas Hope Charities works with the Dallas Police Department through the Safe Place program to spread awareness and education in the community by encouraging victims to report ALL crimes, especially hate crimes. The Safe Place program brings the LGBTQIA+ community, the Dallas Police Department, local businesses, social organizations, and education centers together to create a safe place and city for all! As of 2024, 215 businesses from various Dallas neighborhoods have registered as Safe Place locations.

Launching during 2022 Pride Month, we offer Hopeful Discussions, a series that is geared toward reducing homophobia by increasing understanding of LGBTQ+ identities and issues to educate and build a more inclusive community. 

In addition, we also host our Hopeful Spaces virtual support group for parents, caregivers, and allies of LGBTQIA+ youth. The program encourages attendees to seek advice, share experiences, and learn new ways to love and support the LGBTQIA+ youth in their lives.
