Freedom, Inc. (FI) is a dynamic collective of women, queer and trans folks, and young folks of color, ending violence within and against low income communities of color. We focus our work within Black, Hmong and Cambodian communities.  All of our work is specific in relation to culture, gender, and generation and is held in a collective structure to promote liberation work, within and across identities.
All of our work is consistent with our commitment to queer justice, but some of our specific areas of work also include:  Leadership development for youth and elders, political education, and domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy and services. FI is recognized locally, nationally, and internationally as a strong social movement center that creates systemic and cultural change.

Some of our ongoing projects include:
Movement 4Black Lives Policy Platform - FI was a member of the leadership team, facilitating the creation of  the process, facilitation and political process, of creating a visionary transformative national policy platform with over 50 organizations. Our queer leadership centered the lives of queer and trans folks, and uplifted community control over the police.
Building Local Power - We have conducted trainings on LGBTQ identity issues for city and county staff, as well as done many lectures at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on how police killing unarmed black people is a queer issue.

Hmong International Women's Gathering - We led the queer contingency at the first international Hmong women's gathering, educating over 60 Hmong women on queer Hmong issues.
Please consider giving to support the critical work of LGBTQ/Queer folks of color in Madison, WI creating deep social change… We will get free!
