I support United Way Arise Project on Give Out Day
Greater Twin Cities United Way
Join me on Give OUT Day to support United Way Arise Project and help LGBTQ homeless youth realize their full potential!
Who I am...
I'm the weekend meteorologist at WCCO and also created and hosts "Mike's Mix" a weekly segment focusing on the art and science behind making the perfect cocktail.
This is my fourth year stepping up and Giving OUT by being an Arise Project Givenator! I’m raising funds for national Give OUT Day to support the LGBTQA community, in particular Arise Project programs that help fight youth homelessness.
Why I'm fundraising...
Because on an average night in Minneapolis, there are approximately 4,000 homeless youth and young adults. It is reported that 40% of these fall into the LGBTQ spectrum. 1 homeless youth is too many. Join me in our fight to end homelessness.
Dealing with the pressures of growing up can be difficult, even with a network of supportive friends and family members. Growing up without a team of cheerleaders – or, worse yet, being made to feel like an outsider because of who you are – can be devastating.
Fixing the LGBTQ youth homelessness problem begins with changing attitudes… and that happens when those with a voice speak up for the voiceless. I’m grateful for this opportunity to Give OUT my message of compassion, understanding and kindness, and I appreciate your donation to help United Way’s Arise Project!
I hope you’ll join me – are you IN for Give OUT Day?! Please make a gift now!
