"When my stomach is full, my mind is open." - Chris A.
Even though nutrition is a basic need, meals provide so much more. Shared meals foster community, provide comfort, and draw people together. When meals arrive at JASMYN, it sends a powerful message to our youth that they are not alone, and that adults in our community do
In 2015, 635 young people visited our campus for support. Though our community space is great for most of the work we do, we do not have a commercial kitchen. Funding and support from the community allows us to provide youth with a hot meal from local restaurants and caterers. Your Give OUT Day donation will help fund hot meals with our programs for a full year! In fact, there were 2,000+ meals provided thanks to Give OUT Day supporters in 2015 - more than double the number we were able to provide the previous year!
Tuesday - Friday, JASMYN welcomes up to 50 young people ages 13 - 23 each night to our safe space for support groups, HIV testing and counseling, connection to resources, help with resumes and applications, and even movies, music, and fun. A shared hot meal is a cornerstone to making the space welcome. Your donation will help make it possible. Thank you!
