One Voice Mixed Chorus unites gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender people and straight allies with a mission of building community and creating social change by raising our voices in song. As one of the largest LGBT choruses in North America, One Voice is known for its musical excellence, diverse programming, and deep commitment to community outreach. Whether performing in schools, at community events, or on stage for marquee concerts, One Voice inspires transformation through passionate, vibrant, and creative performances.
Our 2019 Spring Concert, Resistance and Resilience: Voices of the People, explores how voice and song has been utilized in two human rights movements: the fight for LGBTQ and the African American civil rights. Tesfa Wondemagegnehu and community leaders will weave a thought provoking dialogue unpacking the intersectionality between the two movements. One Voice joins a national movement of choruses celebrating Pride by lifting up our voices in song to honor those who began the modern LGBTQA movement. One Voice will perform the Midwest SATB Premiere of Quiet No More which honors the lives of those who rose up and fought back during the Stonewall Uprising 50 years ago. This choral celebration tells the story of Stonewall and reveals how the spirit of Stonewall could not be more relevant today. Join us as we celebrate our legacy and fight back against hatred in all its forms.
Your donation helps us bring our mission of "building community and creating social change by raising our voices in song," to thousands of new people and dozens of new community partners.
