SUPPORT FOR LGBTQ YOUTH LEADERS AND RESEARCHERS
As part of Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) project, RYSE youth interns identify issues around bullying targeted at LGBTQ students. Most recently, our interns conducted LGBTQQ workshops and climate surveys at high schools, focusing on gender justice and sexual based violence. They pushed to strengthen LGBTQ groups in schools, educate students and staff on LGBTQ issues, and provide Gender Justice trainings to school staff.
BODY-POSITIVE, SEX-POSITIVE PROGRAMMING
“Let's Talk About Sex” workshop explores sexual health, healthy sexuality development, and sex positivity culture in ways that are identity focused, trauma informed, and center youth experiences.
RYSE PRYDE MONTH
RYSE Center hosts educational events honoring LGBTQ history. In 2017, RYSE installed spotlights on LGBTQ leaders of color, held a pride kickoff barbecue, made rainbow tye-dye shirts, flags, and masks to represent different identities, and screened Paris is Burning and Moonlight.
