Education and LGBTQ youth leadership development are powerful tools to bridge identities, change hearts and minds, and strengthen voices for equality. We have trained nearly 20,000 educators who have directly and positively impacted the lives of an estimated 3,000,000 students. Our youth leadership activities have empowered more than 8,000 LGBTQ and allied students. Our work has been recognized by the American Federation of Teachers and the Florida Governor's Commission on Best Practices for Youth Suicide Prevention.

Policy Advocacy. Safe Schools South Florida works on policy advocacy initiatives with schools, school districts and government agencies.

Safe Schools Training Series. We work with school districts and communities to implement core training, containing the latest information on creating safer learning environments for LGBTQ youth and their allies.

School Workshops. We work with school administration, counseling personnel and teachers to tailor programs to meet the needs of individual schools.

Youth Empowerment. We host Youth Leadership Summit and Gay Straight Alliance Empowerment Day activities to bring LGBTQ youth and their allies together to build positive self-perception, and empowered self-care, leadership and advocacy skills.

Youth Speaker Training. Youth speakers and panelists are an integral and compelling part of the Safe Schools Training Series, giving dimension, breadth and depth to the youth statistics that only hint at the struggle LGBTQ youth endure.

Youth Scholarships. The Robert E. Loupo, Jr. “Legacy of Change” Scholarship is for graduating seniors who are advocates and/or activists, dedicated to upholding the dignity, rights and equality of the entire LGBTQ community.

SpeakOUT Bureau. Our volunteer speakers bureau of successful professionals of all ages and backgrounds with a personal relationship to LGBTQ issues visit schools to share their stories with LGBTQ students and their allies, LGBTQ-supportive parent groups and other supportive focus groups.
