AIDS Alabama was incorporated as a nonprofit in 1986 with the mission of serving persons with HIV. The organization has been providing housing and supportive services to HIV-positive Alabamians since 1993, and is currently the largest HIV/AIDS service provider in the state of Alabama. Moreover, AIDS Alabama is the only organization in Alabama that focuses on providing housing to low-income, HIV-positive persons. Housing programs and supportive services provided statewide include: permanent and transitional housing programs, rural housing and outreach programs, substance use and mental health treatment, rental and utility assistance, case management, transportation, and prevention education and outreach.

Centro de Acceso para Latinos de Alabama (CALA) & Revolución y Evolución en Alabama de Latinx (REAL) Services:
- Mother’s Day Outreach Event: 350 participated and 83 tested for HIV
- Back to School Outreach Event: 726 participated and 45 tested for HIV
- $8,000 in immigration legal assistance.
- 60 individuals engaged across the peer support groups, Somos Nosotros, for Latinx persons living with HIV and 60 individuals participating in REAL for Latinx individuals identifying as LGBTQ+.
- 32 Latinx individuals received mental health services and 14 received psychiatric services.
- Provided 7 scholarships for Latinx persons living with HIV for the Positive Living Conference in Florida September 9-11, 2022.
- In collaboration with AIDS Alabama Prevention and Advocacy staff, CALA engaged 1,834 Hispanic/Latinx community members and 86 volunteers. CALA also performed 265 HIV tests at multiple outreach events.
- The annual Back to School Health Fair engaged 726 participants and 60 volunteers.
- We had the opportunity to have the first CALA conference for 35 volunteers this weekend at the 4-H Center in Columbiana. They received training in leadership, artivism and HIV.
- First time Latinx participating in Birmingham PRIDE Parade with 25 REAL participants
- ATREVETE Orgullo/PRIDE Celebration: 488 participated and celebrated with Latinx music and culture.
- First retreat for LGBTQ Latinx Gay men and HIV Positive: 16 participated in mental health, wellness, mindfulness and storytelling.
- Navidad Wish- we helped 24 kids to receive Christmas gifts and winter jackets for CALA Program parents that are low income.
