Birmingham AIDS Outreach was incorporated in 1985 and was the nonprofit organization dedicated to providing HIV/AIDS prevention education and services for persons/families living with HIV/AIDS in the state of Alabama and the Birmingham area, specifically.  BAO has 27 years of progressively growing skills and experience in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention education and essential services.  BAO programs are offered free of charge and include: case management provided by three licensed bachelor social workers; food and nutritional supplements; transportation; financial assistance for medical items such as eyeglasses, hearing aids, and medical equipment; medication assistance; legal services; personal hygiene supplies; individual and family counseling (including support groups and a women’s group); Many Men Many Voices (3MV); Friends and Family Night and S.I.S. support and socialization opportunities; Holiday Gift Box Project; GED program; HIV testing and education; Youth Advisory Council; clothing/household closet, haircuts; pet food in collaboration with The Birmingham Humane Society.
