EqualityMaine is the oldest and largest statewide organization dedicated to creating a fair and just society for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Mainers.
Our mission is to protect and advance full equality for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Mainers by creating an inclusive and intersectional movement through political action, community building, education, engagement and collaboration.
We envision the day when all LGBTQ+ Mainers and their families are empowered and have full equality in the hearts and minds of Maine people.
Through the New Leaders Project, LGBTQ+ youth and allies come together to build community, develop leadership skills, and foster personal growth. Participants engage in hands-on learning experiences focused on interpersonal communication, LGBTQ+ history, advocacy, and self-empowerment.
We provide safe, affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ youth across Maine through leadership development, peer connection, school engagement, and family education. Our programs empower young people to thrive in their identities while building stronger, more inclusive communities.
Network for Older Adults (or NOA) is a statewide program that seeks to support, connect, and advocate with LGBTQ+ older adults in our community. From social connection to health equity and policy change, we ensure older LGBTQ+ adults are visible, valued, and supported through monthly community meals, virtual social hours, and movie gatherings. We also hold creative arts and storytelling programs, vaccine clinics, and intergenerational events intended to build community among LGBTQ+ youth and older adults.
