Flourish Therapy's mission is to expand access to affordable, accessible, culturally competent, and evidence-based mental health services to LGBTQIA+ individuals, couples, and families.

When Flourish opened its doors in 2017, there was no clinic in Utah where LGBTQIA+ people could be sure of receiving affordable and culturally competent therapy. As of 2024, Flourish continues to be the sole provider of free mental health services specific to the needs of this community.

In the context of Flourish Therapy, cultural competence means understanding the diverse religious and cultural perspectives of our clients. Many of our clinicians have ties to both the LGTBQIA+ community and various faith backgrounds. This enables us to provide support to clients with similar intersectional identities and create an inclusive space where individuals can receive support without feeling judged or misunderstood. This approach resonates deeply with our rural clients who often grapple with reconciling their faith and identity in more isolated settings. This approach also resonates with the LDS community here in Utah. As one would expect, many of our clients have ties with the LDS church and the LGBTQIA+ community. They need providers who understand this intersection.

As we continue to expand our licensing to encompass more states, our visibility in rural communities grows. The combination of our teletherapy capabilities and our dedication to serving LGBTQIA+ individuals from conservative or religious backgrounds positions us as a unique and much-needed resource for communities that have often been underserved.
