Gender Justice

It is never the wrong time to fight for people’s rights.

This year Gender Justice celebrates 15 years. Over the past decade and a half Gender Justice and our community have accomplished so  much to be proud of, including landmark wins protecting abortion access in Doe v. Minnesota, affirming the dignity of trans inmates in Lusk v. Minnesota Department of Corrections, & just this autumn, asserting the right of trans athletes to compete without discrimination in Cooper v. USA Powerlifting. 

No matter the political and societal landscape — including in uniquely scary and demanding moments like the one we face now — your support has empowered us to stay true to our belief that it is never the wrong time to fight for people’s rights. Together, we’re excited to keep moving forward towards our dream of a world where no one’s life is limited or defined by their gender. 

By supporting Gender Justice, you are a part of these historic victories on issues like trans rights and reproductive rights, setting groundbreaking legal precedents, and cultivating transformative movements. 

You may be familiar with the Mudra v. Buffalo Wild Wings charge that we announced earlier this year. Eighteen year old Gerika Mudra was at Buffalo Wild Wings in Owatonna, MN. When she went to use the restroom, the server followed her and demanded she prove she was a girl. Gerika, scared and trapped, unzipped her hoodie to prove she had breasts. This story quickly spread because it highlights how the anti-trans panic–fueled by misinformation and exploited by politicians–does not stop at trans people. These narrow views of gender and presentation harm us all. 

We know the road ahead will be full of challenges. We also know from our first 15 years that, together, we are up to the task.  But none of this is possible without your support. 

Together, we have the power to not only defend our wins, but further strengthen Minnesota’s commitment to safety, freedom, justice, and dignity for all.
