Mariposas Sin Fronteras

Mariposas Sin Fronteras focuses on supporting trans and LGBQIA+ migrants (our “compes”). As the federal government defunds the resources available to our compes, we address the immediate needs by distributing mutual aid to those who cross the US-Mexico border into Arizona. 

Our organization empowers migrants through a two-fold approach: providing direct material assistance and creating spaces for the Tucson community to engage with compes recently released from detention. Cultivating joyful connections is essential for building resilience within our community, fostering affirmation, healing, and empowerment.

Additionally, Mariposas Sin Fronteras offers transitional housing at Casa Mariposa, ensuring that our compes have a safer place to settle and process their experiences.

In 2025, we distributed:

• $18,000 of commissary funds 
• $23,000 of emergency mutual aid
• $15,000 to help compes from detention centers

We are fundraising for $5,000 by June 30, aiming to increase the humanitarian aid we provide to our LGBTQIA+ migrant community in Southern Arizona. Direct financial aid is crucial for the survival and immediate well-being of our compes. Now, more than ever, it is vital to support trans and LGBQIA+ migrants in our community.
