Our community is facing tremendous challenges: an unprecedented wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation seeking to roll back our progress state by state. In response, LGBTQ+ advocacy groups are mounting legal campaigns to overturn these measures, and we are so grateful for these organizations.

At OUTWORDS, our work is different.

We don’t go to court. We go into people’s living rooms. Specifically, the living rooms of the LGBTQ+ elders who have been battling for our rights and visibility for decades. We record their inspiring stories and life-saving wisdom, and we beam these testimonies to the LGBTQ+ community, and particularly queer youth, in the US and far beyond. 

We have been attacked before. Our elders showed us the way. With courage, determination, and imagination, they led us through dark times in the past. They can guide us forward again.
