$5,000 Goal

Founded in March 2016 to honor the memory of Sam Harel Price, a junior at Oberlin College, the mission of Sam & Devorah Foundation for Trans Youth is to support trans and non-binary youth by offering safe spaces and programs where they can connect, thrive and be empowered.

Since our launch in 2016, the work of Sam & Devorah has become even more important. We need your support now more than ever: with the increase of anti-trans legislation and heightened attacks on TGNB youth, it's imperative that we offer opportunities for TGNB youth and young adults to realize the beauty, potential, and strength of their identity and community.

Your support will help our following programs flourish:

Trans Mentor Project

Trans Mentor Project is a national e-mentoring program that pairs trans and nonbinary (TGNB) youth and young adults with TGNB adult mentors. Its mission is to provide trans and nonbinary mentees with supportive, identity-affirming mentors who will empower them to meet their personal goals and thrive.

Mentors and mentees who partake can expect Mentoring Meetups, Community Connections, Themed Groups, and Workshops and Panels.

We are thrilled that we are currently accepting applicants for our second cohort! You can learn more about how to apply here

Fall Youth Retreats

“I enjoyed being around all the people who are also trans and understand how I feel." -Feedback from Retreat Participant

Since its inception, the fall youth retreat has been our anchor.  These weekend-long retreats provide trans and non-binary youth, ages 12 to17, a unique opportunity to celebrate their identities in a safe and accepting community.  For many of our participants, it is the only space they have to connect to other trans and non-binary teens and young adults.  We designed this weekend to be uplifting, affirmative, and inclusive. Teens build relationships through a variety of activities including thoughtful guided conversations, outdoor recreational activities, mindfulness workshops, and just sitting around a campfire laughing, singing, and having fun. We pack a lot into a short amount of time! The entire weekend is led by trans and non-binary counselors. You can see photos of our past retreats here. Various Events Throughout the Year!

"We aren't unhappy with ourselves. We are unhappy with what we are dealing with. It is society that disables." -Quote from Trans Youth Town Hall

Throughout the year, we offer tons of virtual and in person events for TGNB youth and young adults across the country.

Past events include an Evening with Jazz and Jeanette Jennings and an open Trans Youth Town Hall.

Coming up in July, Sam & Devorah will be hosting Trans Voices: A Storytelling Event for Trans and Nonbinary Young Adults! Click here to find out more.
