About Stepping Stone of San Diego

Since 1976, Stepping Stone of San Diego has been a lifeline for LGBTQ+ people seeking recovery, healing, and hope. We’re one of the nation’s only nonprofits specializing in addiction recovery and mental health care for the LGBTQ+ community—and we’ve never stopped fighting for those most in need.

Every day, we provide culturally competent, evidence-based care through our residential treatment, outpatient programs, mental health services, sober-living housing, HIV support, and more. We are a place where people come to not only get sober—but to thrive.

Why Give?

The need has never been greater. In a time when our community—especially trans and nonbinary people—is being targeted, our services are a vital refuge.

LGBTQ+ individuals are 4x more likely to experience substance use disorders.

Over 50% of LGBTQ+ people report problems with substance use.

LGBTQ+ individuals are 4x more likely to attempt suicide.

LGBTQ+ people are 10x more likely to experience homelessness.
