Supporting Youth Identifying as LGBTQ+
46% of the homeless population in Minnesota are youth who identify as LGBTQ+. The Bridge is a safe and welcoming place for ALL youth who need access to safe, supportive housing, free of bias and harassment, and access to culturally competent services that affirm their identity. Your support ensures that ALL youth have access to support when they need it, as well as basic needs - including gender affirming and transitional clothing for youth who identify as LGBTQ+.
Meeting Needs of Youth in the Twin Cities
Consistent with our Strategic Direction at The Bridge, The Mobile Youth Outreach Center prioritizes meeting the immediate needs of BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and sexually exploited youth ages 10-21 in the Twin Cities; bringing services directly to youth in spaces and places they feel safe, providing mobile intervention to meet immediate basic needs – healthy food, gender affirming clothing, resources for harm reduction and safety planning, assessments and referrals, case management, and most importantly, connection through both 1:1 in-person and virtual support.
The Bridge for Youth also facilitates So What If I Am? - the longest running, local emotional support group for LGBTQ+ &/or Trans+ Youth in the Twin Cities.
