UGRC’s mission is to foster healthy connections and improve the health and well-being of Black, indigenous and people of color who are members of LGBTQIA2S+ communities through education, power building, and social
engagement, throughout the greater Richmond area.
UGRC has eight years of experience working with Black and LGBTQIA2S+ persons to improve their health and wellness. This connection to the community positions UGRC as a trusted partner to create learning environments where community members feel safe to ask hard questions and receive solid information about cancer and the need for screening. While UGRC resources and connections are available to all community members, strong connections and shared understandings of the unique needs of underserved communities has been key to being seen as a trusted source of information and resources for LGBQTIA2S+ community members. On an annually basis, UGRC hosts an average of 6 well-attended events with a total combined attendance of 5,000 individual community members.
