Founded in 2001, Campus Pride is proud to call Charlotte home and is the only national Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning (LGBTQ) youth organization based in the South. Campus Pride believes strongly in investing in its community and shaping LGBTQ youth advocacy across the country. In addition, nationally the organization has worked to improve the LGBTQ safety and campus climate at 1400+ campuses.

Campus Pride is not immune to the impacts of this crisis. With colleges taking the necessary steps to move to online learning rather than in a classroom setting and with individuals practicing social distancing, Campus Pride witnessed sharp declines in program registrations and purchasing services in March 2020 that remain today.  This equates to a critical loss of revenue that our organization relies on to support our LGBTQ youth programs and services as well as to pay rent, utilities and staff salaries.

Campus Pride continues to take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among our staff and volunteers while still providing services and resources to help support those most vulnerable in the LGBTQ and ally community.   Our office has been closed since March 12, 2020 and our interns, volunteers and staff are working remotely.

Campus Pride has focused programming efforts toward "NEW" digital programming as well as our online resources and services. These new programmatic efforts desperately need funding in order to continue to support LGBTQ+ youth who are already at high risk for depression and other negative health harms.

Examples of our 2020 programs & initiatives include:

TIPS TO LAUGH, LOVE & COPE :: Through our social media platforms, our volunteers and student interns have created the "Tips to Laugh, Love & Cope" campaign to help support, find community and create a virtual safe space for LGBTQ and ally young people during this time.

CLASS OF 2020 VIRTUAL LAVENDER GRADUATION :: Campus Pride held the only national virtual graduation for LGBTQ+ college students honoring the achievements and celebrating the Class of 2020. Watch online:

2020 SUMMER INTERNS ::  This Summer, three summer interns will be working remotely for a minimum of 10 hours a week supporting Campus Pride and completing various projects.  Each will participate in our June Pride Month activities and help lead the planning for Campus Pride this summer and fall.  They will also attend and help coordinate the digital Camp Pride this July learning valuable skills to advocate for social justice and create positive change.

SHOW YOUR CAMPUS PRIDE FOR PRIDE MONTH :: June is National Pride Month. Campus Pride is celebrating Pride Month for LGBTQ+ youth virtually. On Tuesday, June 30, the "Show Your Campus Pride" six hour long livestream broadcast will feature a diversity of LGBTQ+ youth singing, dancing, reading poetry and other forms of celebration. The digital event will be shared across all our social media channels and provide a way to uplift and engage together LGBTQ+ intersectional communities in Charlotte and across the country.

CAMP PRIDE :: For over 14 years, Campus Pride has held Camp Pride. This year we are not able to hold an in-person Camp Pride summer leadership training in Charlotte, NC. Our plans, if we have the necessary financial support, is to offer this program digitally to LGBTQ+ youth to build future leaders and create safer, more inclusive communities.

In addition, we have continued to provide updates and information on our online website and our national benchmarking tool

We need your help.  Monetary donations are incredibly helpful during this time as we do our best to support LGBTQ+ youth with digital events and learning opportunities. Your $10 donation during the month of June 2020, can help us win $10,000!  Please make a gift today - so we can continue to do what we do.
