GLSEN Central New Jersey

A nonprofit organization

GLSEN Central New Jersey is in our schools and on the streets, opening minds and doors. What are we here to do?

Our mission is to create safe and affirming schools for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, race, ethnicity or religion.

Our vision is a world in which every child learns to accept and respect all people, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity / expression.

Some of our biggest accomplishments in were:

  • Annually, we coordinate GSA and Trans Youth Forums (TYF) that are open to students of the state of NJ.   Both forums bring together high school and middle school students, their advisers, allies, parents and supporters for a day of celebration, education, and networking.
  • We are also very proud of the work that GLSEN Central NJ contributed to in the passage of legislation for the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights as well as the Inclusive Curriculum Bill.

We will continue to:

  1. Support student leaderhsip teams, GSA Forums, and provide information and materials to GSAs
  2. Provide professional development to school districts and professional groups including professional development in accordance with the Inclusive Curriculum Bill.
  3. Strengthen and expand our Safe School Liaison Project
  4. Continue to sponsor Trans Youth  Forums and GSA Forums in collaboration with our partner stakeholders
