Los Angeles LGBT Center

A nonprofit organization

Imagine being completely rejected by your family, kicked out of your home, and left to believe you’re worthless. Imagine having nowhere to go, nothing to eat, and no money in your pocket. This is the reality for homeless LGBT youth.

Where do they go?  More than any other city, they come to Los Angeles, where LGBT youth represent a whopping 40% of the 9,500 homeless young people who live on our streets each year.

They stream into the city from around the nation, and once here, must contend with the hostile realities of life on L.A.’s streets.

  • Within one week, most of these
youth will have been beaten and robbed of all of their worldly possessions,
which they are likely to have carried in a backpack.

  • Within one week these kids will
have used narcotics for the first time to stay awake through the night.

  • Within one week, these kids
will have performed their first act of survival sex, not for cash, but for a
    place to stay.

No organization in the country does more for LGBT youth than the Center. Please join us on National Give Out Day by making an investment in the Center’s work and the youth who rely on us. All contributions made today will be generously matched by the Sawchuk Family Foundation, dollar for dollar up to $5,000.

Together, we can save lives and provide these kids with…

  • Hot meals
  • Warm beds
  • Emergency clothing and showers
  • Counseling
  • Help finishing high school, getting a GED and getting a job
  • Transitional housing

More than all of this, we provide these youth with hope and an opportunity to grow and heal. But, we can’t do it without supporters like you. Please take this opportunity to invest in our vital work.
