Q Center

Q Center, based in Portland, Oregon provides safe spaces, community building and empowerment for the positive transformation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirit, intersex, asexual (LGBTQ2SIA+) communities and allies in the Pacific Northwest. 

Although Q Center is currently closed to the public due to restrictions related to the COVID 19 pandemic, we continue to do what we can to fight the isolation that those in marginalized communities often feel. Most of our affinity groups have migrated to virtual platforms. Q Center has provided space for volunteers who are offering essential services including producing hand sanitizer and masks; running a food pantry; and gathering and distributing hygiene items, sanitation materials, food and other supplies to assist those impacted by the pandemic and the economic fallout.

We look forward to a day when we can once again open our doors to the public so that everyone in the community can utilize our space. We suspect that everyone will appreciate community and community space a little more after we are able to gather again for support, affirmation and celebration. 

We have not been idle during the public closure. We have used this time to complete some renovations to the building which we can hardly wait to show off. We have also learned some lessons from migrating to virtual platforms. Q Center is not just the building on Mississippi Avenue. We have the ability to serve many who cannot visit Q Center in person. We are exploring ways to serve those throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington who do not have easy access to a culturally-specific community center.
