Somos Familia

Somos Familia is a community-based organization started by two friends who wanted to make the world safer and more accepting for our Latinx Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) youth and their families. Our community volunteers provide peer support and education programs, such as workshops on acceptance, gender and sexuality terminology, and being an ally. Each year, we reach hundreds of childcare providers, community-based organizations, school staff, youth, and parents. Our community-building events provide safe spaces for families with LGBTQ+ children to come together and support one another, as well as spaces for queer and trans Latines to provide each other mutual support. We also develop and disseminate critically needed bilingual education materials, which are used in several countries.

As we celebrate the power of unconditional love and support to LGBTQ+ Latinxs and their families, we ask you to support us with a donation of $10 or more. Your donations will be used to continue our vital work of recovery for LGBTQ+ Latinxs and their families. Your investment will directly benefit our support groups:

1. FAMILIAS Y DIVERSIDAD - by and for Spanish-speaking families with LGBTQ+ loved ones
2. GRUPO DE APOYO FÈNIX - by and for Spanish-speaking transmasculine identified individuals
3. GRUPO DE JOVENES - the relaunch of a social group by and for Spanish-speaking LGBTQ+ youth
