Time Out Youth Center

Since 1991, Time Out Youth has been a place where LGBTQ+ youth ages 13 -24 can experience a sense of belonging and community. Located in Charlotte, NC, our mission is to support LGBTQ youth by offering vital programs, fostering unconditional acceptance, and creating safe spaces for self-expression through leadership, community support & advocacy. We aim to create inclusive communities where all youth are equally empowered to reach their true potential.

We offer weekly support groups and programming, no-cost mental health counseling, housing and supportive services (such as a shower, laundry room, life essentials closet, and kitchen) and a safe space where youth can be authentically who they are. 

In 2024, we:

1. Housed 37 youth.
2. Provided $19,702 in emergency financial assistance to young people.
3. Saw our drop-in space visited 1,477 times.
4. Hosted over 576 free counseling sessions to 55 youth.
5. Reached 2,967 people through trainings, presentations, and community events.
