The Knights & Orchids Society Inc.

The Knights and Orchids Society (TKO) envisions a future where Transgender, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Gay (TLBG) Black people are empowered to live full and healthy lives free from harm. Our mission is to build the power of TQBLG Black people across the south by providing a spectrum of health and wellness services addressing the social determinants of health that negatively impact our communities.

We're raising $78,000 to ensure access to gender-affirming medical care and support for 10 transgender Alabamians in 2023. 

TKO clients receiving gender-affirming care services are eligible for the following each year, free of charge: 

• 4 Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) medical care visits
• 4 sets of medical labs 
• 12 months of medication and supplies needed to support HRT goals
• 12 monthly boxes of gender-affirming supplies, including binders/bras, makeup and makeup brushes and tools, hair care supplies, perfume/cologne, and toiletries

Additionally, each new gender-affirming care client receives a copy of Anneliese A. Singh's The Queer and Transgender Resilience Workbook: Skills for Navigating Sexual Orientation and Gender Expression.

The annual per client cost of these services is $7,800, which includes $4,800 for medication and medical supplies.
