The National Center for Transgender Equality advocates to change policies and society to increase understanding and acceptance of transgender people. In the nation’s capital and throughout the country, NCTE works to replace disrespect, discrimination, and violence with empathy, opportunity, and justice.
2021 can best be described thus far as one of incredible change. We’ve moved on from four years of a nightmare 45th Administration hell-bent on attacking trans people at every turn to a Biden Administration that has already proven to be a close ally to our community. Unfortunately, we have seen over 50 anti-trans bills introduced at the state level, which could negatively impact 45,000+ trans youth if these anti-trans bills pass into law.
We have been resisting these bills at every turn—and we are winning. Over the past few weeks - and through the end of June - we are mobilizing volunteers to fight back against state sanctioned transphobia. More than 20+ states have rolled out bills that deliberately target our children who deserve safety, security, and the right to access gender affirming healthcare.
But change is possible and NCTE is committed to being change agents for our community. Join us as a donor now to be part of our movement for equality.
After 18 years at the helm of NCTE, Mara Keisling has announced that she will be stepping down as Executive Director later this year, and that NCTE’s current Deputy Executive Director, Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen, will take over as NCTE's newest Executive Director. We could not be more excited, proud, and thankful to know that Rodrigo and the rest of of the team will be forging ahead with all the work that still remains. Nothing has changed about the fight, and our work now is as important as ever as we work to ensure the survival, rights, and protections of trans people.
With your support, you can fight back against bills that deny healthcare for trans people nationwide, thwart attempts to criminalize who we are, and ban trans youth from playing sports. This is OUR fight.
