Thrive with Pride 200 Diplomas Campaign

The Dr. Annise Mabry Foundation Thrive with Pride program launched our campaign for Give OUT Day, a month-long fundraising campaign culminating on June 30, the only national day of giving for the LGBTQ community. 

Thrive with Pride is the only high school diploma program dedicated to supporting homeless LGBTQ youth with obtaining a high school diploma and we are trying to raise $24,000 to purchase 200 online curriculum and online career pathway licenses. 

Meet Brandilyn. Brandilyn was an athlete at a public school but an injury and bullying made it impossible for her to continue her education so she dropped out of school in the 12th grade. Brandilyn’s mom learned about the Thrive with Pride program and encouraged Brandilyn to apply. Brandilyn graduated with her high school diploma and is now enrolled in technical college pursuing her degree in Associate’s Degree in Nursing. 

This campaign is important to our community because 91% of LGTBQ youth report at least one bullying incident, 60% don’t feel safe in school, 58.7% of LGBTQ youth who dropout of school are exploited by human traffickers or are engaged in survival sex; and, 40% of LGBTQ youth have considered suicide are 5xs more likely to have been a victim of bullying. 

Give OUT Day is June 30, but the campaign runs through all of Pride Month. It’s especially important for us because if we earn the most individual donors in our category, we could win thousands in additional prize money.
