For just over a year now I've had the honor to serve on the board of directors with the Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project (QWOCMAP). I commit my time and money to QWOCMAP because I feel that the work they do for queer and trans women and nonbinary filmmakers of color and our communities is so critical for the holistic well-being of folks to creatively tell their stories, and for the advancement of equity and representation in media.

I invite you to join me in investing in QWOCMAP
by donating $25 or more by June 30!

QWOCMAP has provided free professional workshops for filmmakers to create more than 450 films over its 20 years - creating the largest archive of films by queer folks of color in the world. And now in it's 18th year, QWOCMAP continues to host a film festival every June in San Francisco, presenting amazing high-impact films that authentically reflect our lives and address intersecting social justice issues.

Your donations will support:

  • Critical Juncture
BIPOC filmmakers are too often forced out of the field of filmmaking due to a lack of resources. To address this issue, QWOCMAP developed Critical Juncture to bridge that gap. Last year they provided camera and laptop packages and small grants along with advanced training and mentorship for queer & trans Black filmmakers. This year they are expanding this program to support Native American & Indigenous, Asian, Latinx, and other people of color.
  • Accessibility at the 2022 Queer Women of Color Film Festival
QWOCMAP has always done and continues to do THE MOST in making their film festival accessible and welcoming for our communities and advancing that work in the larger film festival world. This year, as they re-enter offering the Film Festival in person, QWOCMAP's festival will remain FREE, and is expanding it's access by offering low-cost COVID testing and free N95 masks on-site, audio description for all films, tactile maps of the theater, virtual viewing of the festival, and so much more. Additionally, QWOCMAP staff invest time and energy to advocate and educate on accessibility in the field.

During Pride month (June 1 to June 30) QWOCMAP needs 1,000 donors to each make a contribution of $25 or more in order to meet our $25,000 goal. And if we have the highest number of donors, QWOCMAP will receive additional cash prizes through Give OUT Day!

So please join me in supporting QWOCMAP by:

  • Donating $25 or more through my page
  • Encourage people you know to donate by sharing my page
  • Share about our GiveOUT Day Fundraising on social media
  • Spread the word about the upcoming Film Festival (in-person and virtual) https://qwocmap.org/festival/

Thank you for investing in queer and trans women and nonbinary communities of color!
