Hi! My name is Alyssa Love Young and I’m raising money for Maven Youth. Maven Youth is an organization that empowers LGBTQ+ youth in tech. Maven Youth is trying to raise $25,000 for 2025! It would mean a lot to me if you made a donation. I myself have benefitted from their services since 2017.
Before Maven Youth, I wanted to be a computer programmer. I attended tech camps and workshop, which costed money. Maven Youth charged me nothing, yet left the biggest impact. Camp provided exposure to potential career paths and a safe space for exploring LGBTQ+ topics. Not only did I come out of camp with a cool game to showcase, but I also came out with a stronger sense of self and community... And that was only the beginning.
Maven Youth empowered me to come out to the world. After that, I took on more leadership roles. This involved leading youth in the same camp that changed my life, as well speaking in panels at companies. I also attended a conference, where I acquired an internship at a startup. While studying at UC Santa Barbara, I rejoined Maven Youth as the Communications & Development intern. During my internship, I created a youth database, researched grant prospects, and coordinated a campaign that raised over $10,000.
My experiences with Maven Youth have been profound in my development as a young adult. Although I started out wanting to be a developer, Maven Youth inspired me to be so much more. Maven Youth brought out my pride and confidence.
Over the last 8 years, I have never felt more seen than when I was in Maven Youth spaces. That's why I came back.
Maven Youth provides a truly inclusive and safe space for everyone to be seen. LGTBQ+ youth need this now more than ever. There are many hurdles for LGBTQ+ youth to build the life and career of their choice. Accessible programs like our summer camps provide exposure to potential career paths and develop career-readiness skills. In order to run our 2025 summer camps, we need an extra $25,000. We need your help to keep us going.
My personal goal is to raise $4,000, but I only need your help with half of that. With my PG&E company match and my personal matching grant, every dollar will be matched 1 for 1.
Please consider donating $25 today to help us reach our $25,000 goal. Your gift will be doubled through my fundraiser!
Thank you so much for your love and support.
