Luna Merbruja's QWOCMAP Fundraising Page

I fell in love with stories at a young age, and always sought a place where I could tell mine.

When I joined QWOCMAP's free Filmmaker Training Program in 2016, I finally found a community of queer women of color collaborating together to bring forth visions of our lives. During the 4-day training, I learned every skill from concept conception, script-writing, shot list, filming, and post-production editing. I was able to make my very first film Azúcar, which still brings so much sweetness to my heart.

QWOCMAP's film festival was the first time I saw fellow trans women of color on a big screen, being loved by an even bigger audience. That experience of seeing many local artists, filmmakers, and community members inspired me to continue making films for years after that first training program. Since then, I've made over 8 short films in various genres - all centering queer & trans folks of color.

QWOCMAP holds a special place in my heart for community, and I am so excited to have a chance to give back to the organization that introduced me to my favorite art form. I hope you will join me on Give OUT Day to support QWOCMAP in expanding its impact on community and continuing its legacy of powerful storytelling.
