In any crisis, LGBTIQ communities are often disproportionately affected due to pre-existing vulnerabilities. The same is true now as the world battles the COVID-19 pandemic.
OutRight anticipates that we will see a spike in demand on LGBTIQ organizations as LGBTIQ people experience increased food insecurity, unemployment, homelessness and domestic violence, but a decrease in resources as LGBTIQ organizations themselves struggle for financial survival.
Due to this, OutRight has launched a COVID-19 Global LGBTIQ Emergency Fund to offer emergency financial resources to LGBTIQ organizations around the world who are serving people impacted by COVID-19, and support OutRight’s work to document and respond to the impacts of the crisis on LGBTIQ communities.
OutRight Action International has closed applications to its COVID-19 Global LGBTIQ Emergency Fund as of midnight EDT on April 30, 2020. We will continue to fundraise for the COVID-19 Global LGBTIQ Emergency Fund to ensure that a greater number of the proposals we have received can receive support through the fund.
