Update #1
First City Pride Center has a goal to help provide professional organizations, with a focus on medical and mental health providers with training to understand how to create a safe space and provide affirming care. We hope to build this training for any group that wants to learn such as schools, employers, and civic groups.
The creation of this training starts with internal training of our front desk volunteers and a the group from Mercer School of Medicine that facilitate our HIV testing and free wellness testing program. After aiding this group of students with their internal LGBTQIA+ safe space and affirming care training, FCPC will being our own version of the training that will has the goal to be delivered to local schools and organizations including SCAD CS3, South University, Georgia School of Medicine, Savannah Authority for the Homeless, SCAD RA's, Park Place, and Mary's Place.
This project will not only support other non-profits, mental health and medical providers in the area, but can be developed to provide a resource for schools and in turn help Savannah's LGBTQIA+ Youth.
