Desi Rainbow Give Out Day Allyship Challenge

2023 is a year where allyship from parents, friends and families of LGBTQ+ folks is desperately needed. Here's why:

- 400+ state anti LGBTQ+ bills introduced in 2023 alone, with most targeting trans youth and their families.

- 13 states have banned gender-affirming care, 20 have banned participation of trans, non binary and intersex youth in sports, 

- a mental health crisis is brewing among LGBTQ+ youth and adults with suicide rates and rates of depression and anxiety increasing rapidly. 

- a hidden mental health crisis is also brewing - parents and families who don't have access to information, resources or support are experiencing their own mental health challenges which remain unaddressed. 

- Immigrant parents face additional barriers with language access, lack of culturally competent resources, shame and stigma

Desi Rainbow works with Desi families across the United States to provide emotional support and resources so that families can learn, build their own affirming community and in turn be better parents to their LGBTQ+ children of all ages. We support LGBTQ+ folks who are seeking community due to lack of family acceptance. We build intergenerational community so that community elders and LGBTQ+ folks come together to build chosen family, friendship and affirming faith and cultural space.
