Theatre Rhino has been my artistic home for more than two decades. I've acted on their stage, I've painted their sets, I've built and torn down their sets, I've mopped their floors and scrubbed their sinks. I currently serve as President of Rhino's Board of Directors. I sincerely believe that live theatre is an integral component of our culture, mirroring our lives back to us with an urgency and immediacy that no other artistic medium delivers. It is especially crucial for LGBTQ folks to have this mirroring experience to help us understand and develop who we are, plus it allows us to share our experience, hope, and hilarity with our allies. Government support for the arts has been slashed in recent years, putting extra burdens on the private foundations who support us. That's why donations from individuals are even more important these days.
