Ibraheem's Fundraiser for Maven Youth

 Every year, at least 50% of LGBTQ+ youth face isolation, bullying, and a lack of access to inclusive tech education, and it's only getting worse under our new administration. From enacting policies only recognizing “two immutable sexes” and demonizing gender-affirming care to minors as “mutilation”, to taking down LGBTQ+ tribute pages from the White House website, it is clear that a goal of this administration is to censor queer identities. But that’s exactly why programs like Maven Youth matter.

Maven Youth empowers LGBTQ+ youth to explore tech careers, develop leadership skills, and find community—all within safe, affirming spaces. Through summer camps, internships, retreats, hackathons, and virtual events, Maven Youth gives young people the tools to dream big, advocate for themselves, and build careers with purpose.

Our programs are youth-led at every level. That means LGBTQ+ youth aren’t just participants—they’re the designers, facilitators, and mentors. This model isn’t just about inclusion—it’s about giving real agency to youth who are too often left out of the conversation.

To get our 2025 summer camps rolling out we need to raise $25,000. This funding directly supports youth stipends, travel, meals, housing, and all the essentials to make camp a reality for young people across the country completely free of charge.

I still remember the first time I walked into Maven Youth camp in 2017 — I was nervous, quiet, and unsure of where I fit in the world. But from the moment I arrived, something was different. For the first time, I was in a space that felt truly safe — a place where I could learn, explore technology, and begin to understand and embrace my identity.

In 2019, I returned as a youth leader. Stepping into that role, guiding younger campers, and seeing them grow reminded me just how powerful community can be. That experience changed me — it pushed me to pursue higher education and dedicate myself to helping others. Now, I’m finishing my bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology at UC San Diego!
