I first learned about SoulForce when I was pastoring a Quaker meeting out in the Pacific Northwest. I loved using their resources as we educated ourselves on how to become more affirming while shifting our understanding the Bible as a liberatory tool rather than one of used in service to the religion of empire. Since moving to the South to work on a college campus their work continues to be key in connecting with students who are seeking spiritual grounding and liberation. I am proud to contribute financially to their work and am grateful for this organization being in the world today.

Soulforce is a 22-year-old LGBTQI nonprofit based in the United States. We build radical analysis, political education, and spiritual power for activists across all social justice movements wherever the work is threatened by Christian fundamentalism.

When you donate to Soulforce, you are supporting projects and interventions like:

Politicized Theological Resources
Soulforce has been producing theological resources since 1998, and our current Spirit Resource Library is a beacon to people looking for help to debunk some of the most prevalent toxic theologies and Biblical interpretations that harm LGBTQI people and women. Each resource is written by trained theologians, and edited by an advisory board that represents activists, educators, faith leaders, and human rights advocates in hostile Christian contexts. We strive to provide all our resources for free, and in English and Spanish; we also offer seed grants to partners wishing to translate any of our resources to disseminate in their own communities.

Movement Partnership
Soulforce is a strategic partner to activists and organizations moving social justice work where Christianity is being used to degrade or deny equal human rights. In our last programming year, we partnered with 49 different activist organizations, faith communities, human rights coalitions, and academic institutions to identify where Christian Supremacy shows up as an obstacle to their aims, and to address those concerns head-on with trainings, workshops, resources, or projects collaborations.

Teología Sin Vergüenza

Teología Sin Vergüenza (TSV) is a North-South queer feminist media project by and for Latinx communities across the continents who experience spiritual violence from weaponized Christianity in our homes, communities of faith, and in society at large. TSV's hallmark programming is its Facebook Live shows: real-time, accessible conversations between Latinx theologians who unabashedly employ queer feminist theologies in their everyday life and work in academia, in communities of faith, and/or in their activism. These shows are broadcast to our community of Sinvergüenzas who hail from 45 countries around the world.

Spiritual Reclamation and Community Healing

Our commitment to sabotaging Christian Supremacy calls us to accompany LGBTQI communities as they take on the long process of naming and healing from generations of weaponized Christianity and spiritual trauma. That's why we create and amplify different methods of healing from spiritual violence: Queer Vacation Bible School, digital retreat spaces for Black Queer Women to explore Womanism, workshops on spiritual violence for Latinx activists, and lifting up the many creative works of artists who are inspiring our resilience in real time, are just some of the ways we help our people feel spiritually irresistible.

We are also the fiscal sponsor of the Religious Exemption Accountability Project (REAP), which empowers queer, trans and non-binary students at more than 200 taxpayer-funded religious schools that actively discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. Through civil rights litigation, documentary film, oral history, research and public policy, REAP works towards a world where LGBTQ students on all campuses are treated equally, with safety and respect. If the work of REAP is what inspires you to make a donation today, we encourage you to give directly to REAP's Give Out Day campaign, where your full gift will go directly to their programming.
