Why we're raising money for TLDEF

The intention behind the creation of M Dance & Fitness in 2010 was for it to be a space for everyone who walked in the door to feel welcome, accepted and important. 

In line with and in effort to broaden the scope of that intention, we are THRILLED to host a dance cardio event to raise money for the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund (TLDEF) a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to end discrimination and achieve equality for transgender people through:

Impact Litigation: Defense for transgender and non-binary individuals facing discrimination due to race and ethnicity, socioeconomic class, geography and lack of access to benefits and services.

Name Change Project: Pro bono legal name change services to low-income transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary people.

Public Education:  Public education programs on transgender rights.

Trans Health Project: Expanding access to transgender-related health care by educating affected individuals about their legal rights, pushing for health care equity, enforcement of existing legal protections and clinical policy changes among insurance carriers.

Please join our Virtual Dance Cardio Event on Sunday, June 28 at 11am.  All 11 of our instructors are teaching and it will be SO FUN!

All donations are 100% tax deductible and go directly to TLDEF.

Every donation counts. If TLDEF has the highest number of individual donors in its category at 11:59PM on June 30, they could win a prize worth thousands more $$!

• M Dance student Maria Deam has pledged a matching donation of up to $500
• M Dance student/instructor Tara Conniff's boyfriend Ben has pledged to match her donation.
