Dear Friends,
Trans Lifeline is an incredible organization that supports the emotional and physical health of the trans community. They have the only peer-support Hotline where all of the operators are trans in North America.
Give Out Day is a national month of LGBT+ philanthropy from June 1 to June 30. Organizations who get the most people to donate $10 or more can win prize grants up to $10,000. Let's help Trans Lifeline get * that * grant!!
Let me gush:
A very cool thing is that Trans Lifeline's work is A GREAT EXAMPLE OF COMMUNITY ALTERNATIVES TO POLICING. Their work directly reduces the frequency of over policing trans people experience, especially when seeking mental health support and crisis counseling. They will never call the police or 911 services on hotline callers without the caller’s explicit permission.
Some other amazing things:
Trans Lifeline's Microgrants program gives trans people money to legally change their name and gender.
The average cost of changing an ID is $455 for a U.S. citizen and over $1,700 for someone in the immigration process.
The program’s racial equity policy ensures that 75% of all funds go to Black, Indigenous, and POC applicants
Microgrants also provides specialized support to trans people who are incarcerated or detained.
So, like, if you like my Instagram consider this a little donation to keep the toons flowing. $10 is like a premium podcast for two months, right?
Let me throw in a few moon shots:
If you give $250 or more I will draw you a custom cartoon that we will WRITE TOGETHER.
If you give over $1,000? Well, you get a hand-drawn customized cartoon we write together!!
Woohoo! Let's get to 3k!! <3
