Support LGBTQ+ Students as they go back to school.

I want to invite you to support the life-saving work of Hope in a Box.  I believe that schools should be places of learning, discovery, and hope - not hate, and that's why I'm asking for you to support Hope in a Box, which provides books, resources, and trainings on how to create safe spaces for LGBTQ+ students.

Join me today to Ban Hate and Give Hope to LGBTQ+ students, educators, and allies across the country by making a gift that allows Hope in a Box to provide LGBTQ-inclusive books, curriculum, training, and supportive community to educators committed to ensuring that LGBTQ+ people, stories, and communities are represented and reflected in their classrooms. Most schools served by Hope in a Box are in small, rural communities where support for LGBTQ+ people can be the hardest to find.

Help Meet Unprecedented Needs

▪  90% of our educators say their LGBTQ+ students are bullied at school

▪  75% of our educators don’t believe their communities accept LGBTQ+ people

▪  2X increase in LGBTQ+ kids calling Suicide Hotlines at some point during COVID

Messages from Teachers Asking for Help

“Students internalize so many negative stereotypes about LGBTQ people from such a young age, including the idea that LGBTQ people don’t even exist in rural communities. My hope is that these books help students realize both the existence and the humanity of queer people everywhere, both inour little towns and in the world at large. I plan on sharing them with ALL my students.” – Teacher in rural Mississippi

"We need them [LGBTQ+ inclusive books] badly. Our population is 30-40% LGBTQIA+ and their parents are not supportive in the least. In fact, some of the teachers on staff need to be educated on the ins and outs of the LGBTQIA+ terminology and how to treat students. The library is a safe haven for students that identify as LGBTQIA, are gender fluid, or gender queer. We have an Ally club paired with our book club so we can make students feel welcome in the library." - High School Educator in Nebraska

Please join me and donate today to support youth and educators and to Ban Hate and Give Hope. Together we can ensure that schools offer every student a safe and welcoming place to learn.
