Right now, there are 29 states where LGBTQ people are not protected from discrimination at the statewide level. This means they are open to being discriminated against in housing, employment, public spaces, and more.
The Equality Act is legislation that would create comprehensive federal LGBTQ nondiscrimination protections for ALL LGBTQ people, and eliminate the confusing patchwork of protections that currently exist.
The House passed the bill earlier this year, and it's currently in the Senate. We've got to continue our important work to get this bill through the Senate—and that work requires funding.
