Transgender Awareness Alliance

TAA exists to supply emergency assistance to the transgender community of SC and partners with other organizations to create an affirming network of legal, health and consumer resources.

The transgender community has been under extreme attack for the last few legislative sessions. Recently, South Carolina governor signed hate into law by criminalizing medical professions and not allowing them to practice medicine in the safe ways they know how. Taking away the parents right to decide what is best for their child. This law forces teachers and school staff personnel to out any student who may be perceived as being transgender. However, it's not just our youth in a bind. This law also takes away the right for adults insured by state funding (state jobs or Medicaid) to seek proper transgender related health care.  Our goal is to establish a fund that can help those who need financial assistance in getting the medical care they need.
