When Maria stood up at a school committee meeting in her small Massachusetts town to speak out against a proposed book ban targeting a book about a transgender child, she was terrified. She had never spoken publicly before, and she feared backlash—not just for herself, but for her child. But she didn’t stand alone.

Our team had connected her with local allies, coached them to share their stories, armed them with the answers to the questions they had, and provided the support they needed to stand tall in that room. That night, her voice helped sway the vote—and the book stayed on the shelves.

And in classrooms and boardrooms, we’re educating people on what it truly means to be an ally—creating spaces where LGBTQ+ people can not only be safe, but truly thrive.

Massachusetts is often seen as a leader in LGBTQ+ rights, but we know that lived equality is not felt equally across the state. Too many of our neighbors—especially trans folks, LGBTQ+ people of color, and those in rural areas—are still facing discrimination, invisibility, and harm.
