Growing up as a trans and queer youth is rough, I remember struggling to find language to describe how I felt and looking for a community. It was not until I joined my local GSA in High School and got to meet others who shared similar identities as mine and found a community that I longed for. 

    Through attending GSA meetings, I learned about GSA Network and had the opportunity to participate in GSA Network activist camp. I got to gain political education and learned what it meant to be a trans queer youth of color. I learned about systems of oppression and how it impacts my community. It gave me the language and knowledge to name experiences I had experienced growing up; it lit a fire under me to want to learn more to educate myself and my peers! It was one of the most impactful moments of my youth. 

    Many years later as a young adult, I have been fortunate enough to shift from a youth role into a staff role within GSA Network as the Gender Justice Leadership Programs Manager, where I get to support the various programs under GJLP.  I am thrilled to continue the work of lifting up trans youth voices across the nation. I never could imagine I would be in this role and am honored to work with such amazing youth leaders. I believe in the work of trans and queer youth power!
