“I showed up with nothing—not even shoes.

Today, I have a job, a home, and hope.”

That’s what one of our clients said after completing treatment at Stepping Stone.

Every day, people walk through our doors in crisis—many are homeless, some are battling severe mental health issues, and most have been turned away elsewhere simply for being who they are. At Stepping Stone of San Diego, we provide more than recovery—we provide belonging.

We’re one of the nation’s only nonprofit addiction treatment programs with a mission rooted in LGBTQ+ care. For nearly 50 years, we’ve offered residential treatment, outpatient programs, sober living, HIV support, and housing—all built around compassion, community, and cultural understanding.

But right now, our funding is at risk.

With rising anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and increasing demand for our services—especially from transgender and gender-diverse people—your support is more important than ever. Every dollar ensures our doors stay open to those who need us most.

Help us continue to be a sanctuary. Give today and be a part of someone’s transformation.

Why Your Support Matters

  • LGBTQ+ people are twice as likely to experience substance use disorders

  • More than half of LGBTQ+ individuals report struggles with substance use

  • LGBTQ+ individuals are four times more likely to attempt suicide

  • With the rise in anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and legislation—particularly targeting trans, drag, and gender-diverse communities—the demand for our affirming, life-saving care continues to grow

Stepping Stone is more than a treatment center. It’s a place where people rediscover their worth, rebuild relationships, and reclaim their lives.

But we can’t do it without you.

Thank you for giving—and for standing with our community.
