Support Trans and Queer Youth!

Growing up as a trans and queer youth is rough, I remember struggling with trying to find language to describe how I felt and looking for a community of friends in high school. It was not until I joined my local GSA and got to meet others who shared similar identities as mine and found a community that things started to feel welcomed as a queer youth. 

    Through attending GSA meetings I learned about GSA Network and had the opportunity to attend GSA Network activist camp where I really got to gain political education and learned what it meant to be a trans queer youth of color. I learned about systems of oppression and how it impacts my community. It gave me the language and knowledge to name experiences I had experienced growing up, it lit a fire under me to want to learn more to educate myself and my peers! It was one of the most impactful moments of my youth. 

    Many years later at a young adult, I have been fortunate enough to shift from a youth role into a staff role within GSA Network as the Trans Youth Justice Organizer, where I get to lead the National Trans Youth Council (TRUTH) I am overjoyed to continue the work of lifting up trans youth voices across the nation. I never could imagine I would be in this role and am honored to work with such amazing youth leaders. I believe in the work of trans and queer youth power!
